Shed Electrical in Bacchus Marsh, Melton and Surrounding Areas
Whether it's a small backyard shed, large workshop, garage or full outbuilding, we handle everything from power and lighting through to switchboards, dedicated circuits and complete shed fit outs. We regularly install power for sheds across Bacchus Marsh, Melton and surrounding rural areas, with correctly sized cabling, weatherproof equipment and electrical systems designed around what the shed is actually going to be used for.

Why It Matters
Sheds and Outbuildings Need the Right Electrical Setup
A lot of sheds start off with "just a couple of lights and powerpoints" and quickly turn into workshops, home gyms, storage spaces, entertaining areas or full workspaces.
That's why it's important the electrical side is planned around what the shed is actually going to be used for. Lighting, power usage, future upgrades, EV chargers, welders, compressors, hoists and machinery all need to be taken into account.
We work out the correct cable sizing, protection devices and switchboard setup based on the distance from the house and the equipment being used, so everything runs safely and reliably without nuisance tripping or voltage drop issues.
Whether it's a basic backyard shed or a large workshop on a rural property, we'll help design a setup that suits the way you want to use the space.
What We Do
Everything You Need for a Shed or Outbuilding
Whether it's a basic backyard shed, large workshop, garage or full rural outbuilding, we can design and install the electrical setup around how you'll actually use the space.
Dedicated Circuit from the House
We run a dedicated underground or overhead power circuit from the main switchboard to the shed, correctly sized for the distance and the equipment being used.
Separate Switchboard in the Shed
Most sheds are best suited with their own switchboard inside the shed. This keeps everything separated and makes it easier to control lighting, power and equipment independently from the house.
Lighting
From LED battens and workshop lighting through to sensor lighting and exterior lights, we'll help set the shed up with bright, reliable lighting that suits the space.
Powerpoints and General Power
We install weatherproof powerpoints, workshop outlets and general power throughout the shed so everything is where you need it and ready to use.
Hoists, Equipment and Heavy Loads
Running welders, compressors, hoists, machinery, EV chargers or other larger equipment? We can design the setup around heavier electrical loads and future upgrades if needed.
Underground or Overhead Power Runs
Every property is different. Some sheds are best suited to underground cabling, while others may require overhead power depending on the distance, access and layout of the property.

FAQs
Shed Electrical Questions
Underground power is always the preferred option where possible. This is usually done by running underground conduit and cabling from the house switchboard out to the shed. Underground supply is cleaner, better protected and generally the best long term option. In some situations though, overhead power can make more sense. For example, if you've got an existing concrete path or driveway and it's only a small garden shed on the side of the house, some clients choose to run an overhead catenary wire with conduit down into the shed instead of cutting concrete. Every property is different, so we'll work out the best option based on the layout, distance and what works best for your budget.
It completely depends on how the shed is going to be used. For a small garden shed with maybe one or two powerpoints and a light, there's generally no reason to install a separate switchboard in the shed. For larger sheds though, especially workshops or sheds running multiple circuits, equipment, lighting or larger loads, having a switchboard in the shed makes a lot more sense and gives you much more flexibility. Some people also choose to future proof the shed with a switchboard even if they don't need it immediately. At the end of the day, it all comes down to what you're trying to achieve from the space.
Yes, definitely. If your property already has three phase power, we can install three phase supply out to the shed. If your house is currently single phase but you think you may want three phase in the future, we can also run a three phase cable to the shed now and temporarily connect it to single phase. That way the infrastructure is already there if you ever decide to upgrade the property later on.
Every shed setup is different, so there's no set price. The cost depends on things like the distance from the house, whether power is underground or overhead, how many lights and powerpoints you want, whether a switchboard is required, and what equipment you'll be running in the shed. Give us a call and we'll have a chat about what you're trying to achieve and work out the best setup to suit your budget.
Yes, absolutely. As long as the shed has the correct power supply and enough electrical capacity, we can install an EV charger in the shed without any issues. If we know an EV charger may be going in during the planning stage, we can design the shed supply around it from the start so everything is sized correctly.
Generally, clients organise the trenching side of things and we handle the electrical installation. For smaller trenches, some clients choose to dig the trench themselves before we arrive. For larger trenches, most people organise a trenching contractor with the right equipment to complete the excavation. We do have trenching contacts we can recommend, and if needed we can help organise that side of things as well. If it's only a very small trench, we may be able to complete it ourselves, but generally it's much quicker and more cost effective for dedicated trenching contractors to handle the excavation side.
